Today's blog post will be a guest review of The Hunter Inside, our first Caveab.com title by book blogger Cinta Garcia. As a reminder we still have a limited number of copies of this book to give away - see the available books list.
"This thriller with supernatural and horror twists by David McGowan has been quite a discovery. It has been a very interesting read. The different characters lead the reader into separate journeys, in which we can see their thoughts and their development. The plot is very original and it is quite surprising. When I started reading the book, I didn't expect what was going to start happening quite soon.
When police discovers that a man has been brutally murdered, Special Agent Sam O'Neill cannot imagine that he is going to be involved in a very complicated case, in which he will have to deal with a mysterious stalker, who seems to be terrorizing, menacing, and haunting three other possible victims. Even when that is bad enough, he will soon discover that this stalker can be a bigger danger to what everybody could have expected. This stalker has bigger plans that only a few know. The reader follow this man's journey, as well as the victims', to try to find and solve this case, preventing the murder of more people.
It is really well-written, because you can almost feel, touch, smell, what the characters are feeling, touching, smelling. By the use of a very evocative language, the reader gets involved in the story. You just have to read and read. You cannot put the book down. The characters evolve along the story, and you go with them in that symbolic process of changing, in the process of learning about what is threatening them.
Highly recommended. A great read for every occasion. However, I gave it 4 stars because there are some parts of the novel that I found repetitive. Notwithstanding, apart from that, it is a 5-star novel."

They are the most terrifying weapon at the command of King Arorahn: resurrected fallen soldiers, now undead, with superhuman abilities and an appetite for flesh. There is one defense against them – the Phoenix Strike, known only to the exiled Axendrei Knights. Giddeon, a blacksmith’s apprentice whose dreary life is illuminated by his devotion to his beloved, Crysta, has no idea what lies in wait for him when he is conscripted into King Arorahn’s army. He doesn’t know that his father, Hadrigahn, a fugitive Axendrei Knight, has been training him in secret, using a suppression spell to block Giddeon’s knowledge. On the eve of his conscription, Giddeon learns there is to be a battle that Crysta and the other villagers plan to watch. Hoping to see his beloved one last time, Giddeon sneaks away to watch … not knowing that once his innocence has been broken by witnessing acts of grotesque violence, the spell on his mind will also break. Captured by the Bloodwraiths, Giddeon is thrust into a world of gladiatorial combat. He must rediscover his true self, while guarding the secret of the Phoenix Strike, which has the ability to save his world. Will Giddeon remember the truth of who he is, and regain the power to combine all aspects of his essence, which will give him the superhuman strength of an Axendrei Knight? And will Hadrigahn succeed in training a group of fledgling Knights to battle the Bloodwraiths rampaging across the land? Timbuctoo by Tahir Shah
Hello all,
Today's Caveab featured title is Timbuctoo by Tahir Shah. Copies can obtained via email request. Just get in touch via readers@caveab.com letting us know your desired format.
For centuries, the greatest explorers of their age were dispatched from the power-houses of Europe — London, Paris and Berlin — on a quest unlike any other: To be the first white Christian to visit, and then to sack, the fabled metropolis of Timbuctoo.
Most of them never returned alive.
At the height of the Timbuctoo mania, two hundred years ago, it was widely believed that the elusive Saharan city was fashioned in entirety from the purest gold — everything from the buildings to the cobble- stones, from the buckets to the bedsteads was said to be made from it.
One winter night in 1815, a young illiterate American seaman named Robert Adams was discovered half-naked and starving on the snow- bound streets of London. His skin seared from years in the African desert, he claimed to have been a guest of the King of Timbuctoo.
At a time when anything American was less than popular, the loss of the colony still fresh in British minds, the thought of an American claiming anything — let alone the greatest prize in exploration — was abhorrent in the extreme.
Closing ranks against their unwelcome American guest, the British Establishment lampooned his tale, and began a campaign of discrediting him, one that continues even today.
An astonishing tale based on true-life endurance, Timbuctoo vividly recreates the obsessions of the time, as a backdrop for one of the greatest love stories ever told.
Hailing from the respected Anglo-Afghan family, with its roots in the Hindu Kush, Tahir Shah is the author of fifteen best-selling books and several acclaimed documentary films. The majority of his work chronicles a wide range of outlandish journeys through Africa, Asia and the Americas. For him, there’s nothing so important as deciphering the hidden underbelly of the lands through which he travels.
TIMBUCTOO is inspired by a true life tale from two centuries ago. The story of the first Christian to venture to Timbuctoo and back – a young illiterate American sailor – it has been an obsession since Shah discovered it in the bowels of the London Library twenty years ago.
Tahir Shah’s books have appeared in thirty languages and in more than seventy editions, and boast a world-wide following. They are celebrated for their original viewpoint, and for combining hardship with vivid description.
Shah also makes documentary films, which are shown worldwide on National Geographical Television, and The History Channel. The latest, LOST TREASURE OF AFGHANISTAN, has been screened on British TV and shown worldwide. While researching the programme Shah was arrested along with his film crew and incarcerated in a Pakistani torture jail, where they spent sixteen terrifying days and nights.
His other documentaries include: HOUSE OF THE TIGER KING, SEARCH FOR THE LOST CITY OF GOLD, and THE SEARCH FOR KING SOLOMON’S MINES. And, in addition to documentaries, Shah writes for the big screen. His best known work in this genre is the award-winning Imax feature JOURNEY TO MECCA, telling the tale of the fourteenth century Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta’s first pilgrimage to Mecca.
Tahir Shah lives at Dar Khalifa, a sprawling mansion set squarely in the middle of a Casablanca shantytown. He’s married to the graphic designer, Rachana Shah, and has two children, Ariane and Timur. His father was the Sufi writer, Idries Shah.

Murder Takes Time by Giacomo Giammatteo
Today's title is 'Murder Takes Time' by Giacomo Giammatteo. As usual, drop as an email at readers@caveab.com letting us know what format you want and we'll get a copy out asap.
Giacomo lives in Texas now, but he grew up in Cleland Heights, a mixed ethnic neighborhood in Wilmington, Delaware, that sat on the fringes of the Italian, Irish and Polish neighborhoods. The main characters of Murder Takes Time grew up in Cleland Heights and many of the scenes in the book were taken from real-life experiences.
Somehow Giacomo survived the transition to adulthood, but when his kids were young he left the Northeast and settled in Texas, where his wife suggested they get a few animals. They now have a full-blown animal sanctuary with rescues from all over. At last count they had 41 animals—12 dogs, a horse, a three-legged cat and 26 pigs. Oh, and one crazy—and very large—wild boar, who takes walks with Giacomo every day and happens to also be his best buddy.
By day Giacomo is a headhunter, scouring the country for top talent to fill jobs in the biotech and medical device industry. In the evening he helps his wife tend to the animals, and at night—late at night—he turns into a writer.

There was only one rule in our neighborhood--never break an oath. But
oaths are easy to take and damn hard to keep.
Now I'm staring at my best friend, lying on the floor in a pool of blood, my bullet in his gut. Where the hell did it go wrong?
To understand that you'd have to go back to the beginning, back to when the three of us ruled the neighborhood.

Welcome to Caveab
Hello! Welcome to
Caveab.com
This is a book club blog for independently written books -
that is to say those books written by authors who did not receive a traditional
legacy print deal instead opting to publish directly as an eBook.
We want to bring together prolific readers with talented but
undiscovered authors. To do so we'd like to invite authors to offer their works
up for free to our visitors who will then read the book en masse, and hopefully
post up a few reviews of the work they receive. Neither the authors nor the
readers will pay for this service, and we will accept any high quality independently
produced work except erotica.
